As a teacher at Edgars Creek Secondary College, it is expected that:

  • the personalized learning needs of all young people will be catered for via a highly differentiated curriculum
  • all staff will use evolving technologies, collaborative and problem-based learning, and support strong literacy and numeracy core programs.
  • teachers will work together to plan and teach a comprehensive curriculum and to provide rich learning environments for all students.
  • curriculum programs will be supported by contemporary resources and the latest research on teaching and learning.
  • students will build their skills, self-confidence, leadership abilities and community spirit through a rigorous, but rich and varied curricular and co-curricular program.

All teachers have the responsibility to

  • Show care and concern for each individual student.
  • Treat all students with consistency and fairness.
  • Be prepared for and punctual to class and other duties.
  • Provide careful supervision of students.
  • Inform students regularly of their progress and to return set work promptly.
  • Communicate with parents when appropriate.
  • Support and co-operate with one another.
  • Support the current School policies and procedures.
  • Have a commitment to zero tolerance for child abuse.
  • To develop instructional knowledge via the implementation of the ECSC Teaching and Learning framework
  • To implement the Victorian Curriculum and contribute to curriculum planning, ongoing development, assessment and reporting
  • To work in professional learning communities (PLCs) to track and monitor student learning data and develop timely intervention strategies to improve student learning
  • To implement and contribute to the School Wide Positive Behaviours framework in order to develop and maintain a safe and orderly environment and consistent practices
  • To actively participate in establishing a positive school culture where life-long learning is valued by engaging in extra curricula activities and learning opportunities with the school community.
