Students in Year 9 participate in our Innovations Program. This is a year long program that provides students with opportunities to build key skills and essential knowledge that supports their development into active global citizens.
Being an innovative Year 9 student means embracing curiosity and creativity with enthusiasm. At this stage of their schooling, students are beginning to explore areas of interest in depth and are focusing on finding new ways to solve problems and think critically. Our Innovation program encourages students to apply what they are learning within the classroom space, as they participate in activities in the wider community. This approach to learning is dynamic, often extending beyond the classroom into personal projects or community initiatives.
At Year 10 students are making firm decisions about their chosen pathways and participate in a more tailored learning program to help them achieve success as they progress through Senior School. Students in Year 10 are placed into a Maths level that targets their point of need and allows them to work towards their VCE/VM pathway. In addition to this, students study a selective Science stream in Semester 2 that focuses on their areas of interest and again, prepares them for real work applicable to learning or a VCE Science pathway. Among this, Year 10 students continue to study core English, Humanities and Health and PE and can select from a wide range of elective subjects that appeal to their special interests.
Opportunities are available for our highly capable Year 9 students who can apply internally for our early access VCE program. This means students can study one VCE subject in Year 10.
All Year 9 and 10 students also participate in a fortnightly Careers and Pathways program.
